Real Madrid star dodges loaded question in interview

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde found himself in an awkward position during a recent interview, skillfully sidestepping a question that could have put him in a difficult spot.

The incident occurred while Valverde was speaking with Spanish media. The interviewer presented the Uruguayan star with a loaded query, asking him to choose between his current club, Real Madrid, and his former team, Penarol, regarding which one he loved more.

Faced with the potentially tricky question, Valverde did not provide a direct answer. Instead, the 25-year-old laughed and deflected, simply stating, “Don’t ask me that.” He then quickly moved the conversation forward, avoiding any comment that could be interpreted as favoring one historic club over the other.

Valverde began his professional career at Penarol, his boyhood club in Montevideo, before making the move to Real Madrid in 2016. He has since become a fundamental part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, known for his powerful running and box-to-box energy in the center of the park.

The midfielder’s diplomatic evasion highlights the careful balance players often must strike when discussing past and present loyalties, especially when both clubs hold significant places in their careers.
