Van Dijk comments on Salah Liverpool future amid interest

Virgil van Dijk has spoken publicly about Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future, with the Egyptian forward continuing to be linked with moves away from Anfield amid reported interest from Saudi Arabia and MLS.

The Liverpool captain made clear how highly he rates Salah, describing him as a “good friend” and insisting the forward remains vital to the squad as the club targets more success.

Salah has been repeatedly connected with a switch to the Saudi Pro League after last summer’s major pursuit, while MLS has also been mentioned as a possible destination in the future. Despite the ongoing noise, Liverpool have kept their stance private and Salah has continued to deliver on the pitch.

Van Dijk, though, was keen to focus on what Salah brings to Liverpool right now and the importance of keeping the dressing room pushing in the same direction during the season.

It has also been revealed that Van Dijk expects Salah to stay at Liverpool, underlining his belief that the winger will continue to play a key role at Anfield despite the speculation around his next move.

Liverpool’s attention, for now, remains on their targets on the pitch, with Van Dijk’s comments offering a calm message as questions over Salah’s long-term future continue to follow one of the club’s biggest names.
