Wydad Casablanca suffered their first defeat in the CAF Confederation Cup, losing away to Maniema in a match played without Hakim Ziyech.
The Moroccan side found it difficult to impose their rhythm from the early stages, as Maniema pressed with intensity and looked more dangerous going forward.
Wydad tried to respond through spells of possession and a few attacking moves, but they lacked the final touch in the decisive moments.
As the game progressed, Maniema made the most of their momentum and managed to secure the win, handing Wydad their first loss of the campaign in the competition.
The result complicates Wydad’s task in their Confederation Cup run, with the team now needing a strong reaction in the next round to stay on track.
