Xabi Alonso has backed Vinicius Junior after the Real Madrid winger was whistled by some supporters during the win over Real Betis.
Vinicius, who has become one of Madrid’s key attacking players, faced a mixed reaction from the stands as he tried to make his usual impact in the final third. Despite the noise around him, he continued to look to take on defenders and drive the team forward.
After the match, Alonso made it clear the club still sees Vinicius as vital. “He’ll be fundamental for us,” the coach said, while also describing the Brazilian as “very dangerous” when he is running at opponents and attacking space.
Alonso’s defence of the winger underlined Madrid’s stance on the situation, with the coach focusing on Vinicius’ importance rather than the reaction from the crowd.
Real Madrid’s victory over Real Betis ensured the result on the pitch did not suffer, and Alonso’s comments were a strong show of support for a player he clearly expects to be central to the team moving forward.
