The Laureus Academy announced its shortlists on Monday, with PSG nominated in the ‘World Team of the Year’ category. The French giants are recognized for completing an unprecedented domestic treble in the 2024/2025 season, clinching the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions.
Meanwhile, Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal finds himself in contention for two major individual honors. The 17-year-old prodigy is nominated for both the ‘World Breakthrough of the Year’ and the coveted ‘World Sportsman of the Year’ awards. His nomination for the latter places him alongside established global superstars from various sports.
Yamal’s exceptional year was highlighted by his pivotal role in Spain’s triumphant UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. His performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award, cementing his status as one of the world’s most exciting talents.
