Senegal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after ending Sudan’s campaign with a clear win, as the West African side once again showed their experience on the big stage.
From the opening minutes, Senegal played with intensity and control, pushing Sudan back and keeping the ball for long spells. Sudan tried to stay compact and look for quick breaks, but they struggled to handle Senegal’s movement and pressure.
Senegal eventually found the breakthrough and went in front, rewarding their dominance and forcing Sudan to open up more. Sudan’s response was brave, yet the chances were limited as Senegal’s defence remained organised and strong in the duels.
In the second half, Senegal continued in the same rhythm, increasing the tempo and creating more danger in the final third. Sudan attempted to change the match with fresh legs and more direct play, but Senegal stayed calm and punished the spaces, scoring again to put the result beyond doubt.
The match finished with Senegal celebrating qualification, while Sudan’s dream came to an end despite their efforts and determination throughout the tournament.
Senegal now move on to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, confirming their status as one of the competition’s leading contenders.
