Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after beating Bournemouth 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and the club later highlighted an eye-catching statistic that puts Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of the famous “Invincibles”.
The Gunners made a fast start but were made to work early on as Bournemouth sat deep and looked to break. Arsenal eventually found the breakthrough in the first half when Bukayo Saka stepped up to convert a penalty in the 27th minute.
Arsenal controlled the match after the break and doubled their advantage on 49 minutes, with Martin Ødegaard finishing calmly to put the hosts in command.
William Saliba then completed the scoring late on, finding the net in the 85th minute to seal a convincing 3-0 win and cap another strong afternoon for Arteta’s side.
After the final whistle, Arsenal pointed to their points return after seven league games this season, noting that it is better than the tally recorded by Arsène Wenger’s unbeaten Invincibles side at the same stage of the 2003-04 campaign.
The result strengthened Arsenal’s position at the summit and kept their impressive early-season form rolling, as they continue to set the pace in the title race.
