Kylian Mbappe has been ruled out of the entire Spanish Super Cup after Real Madrid confirmed their final squad list for the tournament.

The France forward will not feature in Saudi Arabia as Carlo Ancelotti’s side head to the Middle East, with Madrid making Mbappe’s absence official when the travelling group was announced.

There was better news elsewhere in the squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold included after recovering from a thigh injury. The defender is back in the fold in time for the Super Cup, giving Ancelotti another option as Madrid chase silverware.

Real Madrid are set to begin their Spanish Super Cup campaign in the semi-finals, with the competition once again being staged in Saudi Arabia. Mbappe’s confirmed absence leaves Madrid without one of their key attacking names for the duration of the tournament.

The club’s final squad list makes clear Mbappe will play no part at all, while Alexander-Arnold’s return comes as a timely boost as Madrid look to navigate the semi-final and, if they progress, the final.
