Antoine Semenyo Reveals Why He Snubbed Man Utd and Liverpool

Antoine Semenyo has explained why he chose to ignore interest from Manchester United and Liverpool before committing his future to Bournemouth.

The Ghana international has been one of the Cherries’ standout performers this season, with his pace and direct running making him a key figure under Andoni Iraola. His form has naturally drawn attention, with Semenyo confirming that two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs were among those to make checks on his situation.

However, the 24-year-old said he had “zero doubts” about staying on the south coast, insisting the environment at Bournemouth is the perfect place for him to keep improving.

Semenyo pointed to the trust he feels from the coaching staff and the clear plan the club has for him as the main reasons he decided against a move. He believes he is in the best position to develop his game with regular minutes and a defined role, rather than taking a step into a dressing room where he would need to fight from the start for opportunities.

“For me, it was never a question,” Semenyo said when discussing the speculation. “I know what I’ve got here. I’m playing every week, the manager believes in me, and the club has been really good with me. That matters more than anything.”

The forward also made it clear that he is focused on helping Bournemouth push on, rather than being distracted by headlines linking him with a switch to Old Trafford or Anfield. In his view, the club’s ambition and style of play fit him, and he wants to be part of what they are building.

Bournemouth have already shown they are prepared to reward key players, and Semenyo’s decision to stay will be viewed as another sign of the club’s growing pull. While interest from elite sides is unlikely to disappear if he continues to perform, the player’s stance is that he is exactly where he needs to be right now.
