San Diego FC have confirmed they plan to move on from Hirving “Chucky” Lozano before the 2026 season, making it clear the Mexico international is not in the club’s long-term plans.

He will not be part of our sporting plan,” the club said, in a firm statement that revealed San Diego’s stance on Lozano’s future as they shape their roster for the seasons ahead.

Lozano, 28, arrived in MLS with a big reputation after spells in Europe, having played for Napoli and PSV, and he remains a high-profile name in Mexican football. But San Diego’s message leaves little doubt that the winger is expected to depart before the 2026 campaign.

The announcement underlines the direction San Diego want to take as they continue building their project, with the club now openly planning for a future without Lozano as part of their sporting strategy.
