The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to open an investigation into the incidents that accompanied the Morocco vs Cameroon match, played as part of the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF’s move comes after a series of events were reported during and after the game, prompting the continental body to begin gathering information and reviewing what happened in order to take the appropriate decisions.
According to what has been revealed, the investigation will focus on determining responsibilities and establishing the facts linked to the match events, as CAF seeks to ensure respect for its regulations and competition rules.
The decision to launch the probe reflects CAF’s stance on safeguarding discipline in its tournaments, especially in youth competitions, with the aim of protecting players and ensuring matches are played in the right sporting spirit.
CAF has not yet issued any further details on the timeline of the investigation or the possible measures that may follow once the process is completed.
