Afcon prize money boost: What semifinalists earn

Morocco's national team players warm up in red and green kits before a match, with a vibrant crowd visible in the background.

After the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved an increase in prize money for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), fresh details have emerged on what the tournament’s top four teams will take home under the new financial package.

The raise covers the final standings, meaning the teams that reach the semi-finals now receive higher guarantees than in previous editions, with bigger rewards tied to finishing positions in the last four.

AFCON champions will receive $7 million following the increase, confirming the biggest jump in the tournament’s payout structure.

The runners-up will earn $4 million, while third place is worth $3.5 million.

The fourth-placed team will collect $2.5 million, ensuring that every side that reaches the semi-finals secures at least two and a half million dollars.

The revealed figures underline CAF’s push to strengthen the competition financially, with the semi-final stage now carrying significantly more value for the teams who make it into the AFCON golden square.
