CAF vows strong measures over Algeria vs Nigeria incident

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has vowed to take “strong measures” following the incident that overshadowed the match between Algeria and Nigeria.

In an official statement, CAF confirmed it has opened an investigation into what happened around the game, stressing that the case is being reviewed under the regulations in force.

CAF added that it will not tolerate any violations, and promised that the decisions taken will be “deterrent” in order to protect the image of African football and ensure respect for the competition’s rules.

The confederation did not reveal further details about the incident, but said it will announce the outcome of its investigation and the measures to be applied after the review is completed.
