Shikabala: Hossam Hassan put Egyptian football in trouble

Two football coaches, both in red training kits, discussing strategies on the pitch, with players blurred in the background.

Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala” criticised Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan, saying his recent comments have put Egyptian football in an embarrassing position.

Speaking in televised remarks, the Zamalek captain pointed to the backlash that followed Hassan’s statements, stressing that such talk creates unnecessary problems for the national team and the wider game in Egypt.

Shikabala said the coach’s words were not in the best interests of Egyptian football, adding that the focus should be on work and results rather than public disputes.

He also underlined the need for calm around the national team, especially at a time when supporters are waiting for stability and clear progress.

The comments came amid ongoing debate in Egyptian football circles over Hassan’s recent media appearances and the reaction they sparked.
