Egyptian journalist Amr Adeeb has called on Morocco to issue an official apology after some Moroccan fans whistled during the Egyptian national anthem.
Adeeb said the incident was unacceptable and insisted it should not be treated as a normal moment in the stands, stressing that national anthems must be respected regardless of rivalries or match tension.
He added that the matter goes beyond football and touches on respect between countries, urging Moroccan officials to take a clear position and offer a formal apology.
The remarks came after the whistles were heard while the Egyptian anthem was being played, a moment that sparked anger among Egyptian followers on social media and pushed the issue into the spotlight.
