Morocco goalkeeper: We made history and fans amazed world

Moroccan national team players in red training gear engage on the pitch, with a vibrant stadium backdrop, ahead of a match.

Morocco goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti said his side “made history” after winning the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on home soil, praising the fans for what he described as an unforgettable show throughout the tournament.

“We made history, and our fans gave a lesson to the world,” Tagnaouti said after Morocco’s 1-0 win over Algeria in the final.

He stressed that the squad felt a huge responsibility playing in front of their own supporters, adding that the players were determined to deliver the trophy and did not want to disappoint the crowd.

Tagnaouti also highlighted the atmosphere in the stands, saying the Moroccan supporters pushed the team from start to finish and played a key role in the title run.

Morocco secured the CHAN crown with a narrow victory in the final, completing a tournament in which they relied on strong organisation and discipline, with Tagnaouti playing an important part at the back.
