Diego Simeone snaps at Julian Alvarez transfer question

Diego Simeone, in a black suit, walks pensively ahead of a match, with a blurred stadium crowd in the background.

Diego Simeone bristled when asked about Julian Alvarez’s future after the Atletico Madrid forward was linked with both Arsenal and Barcelona.

The Atletico boss, speaking in the build-up to the club’s next fixture, made it clear he was not willing to entertain questions over a possible move. Simeone reacted sharply to the suggestion Alvarez could be on the way out, shooting back: “Are you serious?!”

Alvarez has been the subject of growing interest following his performances this season, with reports tying him to a switch to the Premier League or a return to La Liga’s title race elsewhere. The Argentina international’s name has been mentioned in connection with Arsenal and Barcelona in particular, bringing the issue to the fore during Simeone’s media duties.

But Simeone offered no encouragement to the speculation and instead shut the topic down quickly, refusing to be drawn into any discussion about transfer links. The Atletico coach’s response underlined his frustration at being asked to comment on rumours, as he kept the focus on the here and now.

What was also revealed is that Alvarez’s situation has become a recurring talking point around Atletico, with outside interest continuing to follow him despite the club pushing on with their season.

For now, Simeone is intent on concentrating on results on the pitch rather than the noise off it, while Atletico look to maintain momentum with Alvarez still an important part of his plans.
