Manchester City rotated their attack against Wolves, with Erling Haaland left on the bench and Omar Marmoush handed a chance from the start.
Marmoush looked sharp early on and played with confidence, making runs in behind and offering a different type of movement to what City usually get through Haaland. He was busy throughout and did enough to show he can be an option when Pep Guardiola changes things.
City still controlled long spells of the game, but Wolves carried a threat on the break and did not make it easy. At the other end, Antoine Semenyo continued his strong form, scoring again and underlining why he has been one of the most reliable finishers around in recent weeks.
There was also a first outing to remember for Marc Guehi, who impressed on his debut. The defender looked composed, won his duels and read danger well as City held firm when Wolves tried to build momentum.
Overall, it was a night where City’s changes were justified. Haaland’s absence did not slow the team down in open play, Marmoush took his opportunity, and Guehi’s debut added another positive note as Guardiola’s side came through with a win.
