Eddie Howe addresses Sandro Tonali future at Newcastle amid Arsenal links

Sandro Tonali in Newcastle's black and white kit, focused expression during a match, spotlight highlighting his determination.

Eddie Howe has insisted Sandro Tonali is central to Newcastle United’s plans, as the midfielder continues to be linked with a possible move to Arsenal.

The Italy international has only recently returned to action and is still working his way back to full rhythm, but reports have suggested he is attracting interest ahead of the transfer window. Howe, though, made it clear Newcastle have no intention of letting him go.

Asked about Tonali’s future, Howe stressed the club’s stance and underlined how highly the midfielder is rated at St James’ Park. “Sandro is a big part of what we’re doing,” Howe said, dismissing the idea that Newcastle are preparing for life without him.

The Newcastle manager also pointed to Tonali’s attitude and quality since coming back into the squad, describing him as an important piece in the group as the club pushes on through the season.

Talk of players using Newcastle as a stepping stone has followed Alexander Isak since his strong form in black and white, but Howe’s comments offered a firm message that Tonali is seen differently inside the club. The head coach’s position was straightforward: Newcastle want Tonali to stay and play a key role going forward.

For now, Tonali remains focused on his football, while Newcastle continue their campaign with Howe adamant he is not a player the club are looking to move on.
