Senegal’s football federation has issued a statement regarding Senegalese supporters who remain held in Morocco, a month after the Africa Cup of Nations final.

In its note, the federation said it is following the case closely and is in contact with the relevant authorities to resolve the situation of the detained fans as soon as possible.

The statement confirmed that a number of supporters were arrested during the period surrounding the final and are still being held, adding that efforts are ongoing to secure their release and to provide the necessary support for them.

The federation also called on Senegalese fans to respect the laws and regulations of host countries during travel for matches, stressing the importance of representing Senegal in a responsible way.

The development comes more than a month after the AFCON final, with Senegal awaiting progress in the files of the supporters still in custody in Morocco.
