A senior official within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sparked major controversy after making strong claims about the body’s leadership and past refereeing decisions involving Morocco.
In remarks that quickly drew attention across the football scene, the CAF official said the current secretary-general is “illegitimate,” using the term “غير شرعي” to describe his position.
The same official also addressed what he called a clear injustice suffered by Morocco in a previous CAF competition. He claimed Morocco were treated unfairly and that the title was effectively “stolen” from them, insisting that the outcome did not reflect what happened on the pitch.
The comments have reopened a sensitive debate around decision-making inside CAF, as well as the pressure that follows major tournaments when controversies resurface. The statements are expected to fuel further discussion in African football circles in the coming days.
