Manchester City are being urged to move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, with the in-form attacker tipped to be a “game-changer” who can take some of the scoring weight off Erling Haaland.
Semenyo has been one of the standout performers this season, and the suggestion is that City should be prepared to spend around £65 million to bring him to the Etihad Stadium. The view is that his direct running, power and finishing would give Pep Guardiola another reliable route to goal, rather than leaving Haaland to carry so much of the burden in the final third.
Those backing the move believe Semenyo has the tools to follow the path of Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling, two wide forwards who were crucial to City’s success because they contributed goals consistently from the flanks. In that sense, Semenyo is seen as the type of forward who can make City less predictable and more ruthless when teams set up to stop Haaland.
The analysis also points out a clear knock-on effect: signing Semenyo would likely mean it is “goodbye” to Savinho, with City needing to make room in an already crowded attacking group.
With City looking for extra firepower and variety in attack, Semenyo is being framed as a ready-made option who could raise the level immediately — while also helping ensure Haaland is not asked to do everything on his own.
