Arbeloa powerless as Real Madrid renew Vinicius talks

Vinícius Júnior celebrates joyfully with a teammate, while a UEFA official looks on, highlighting the camaraderie at a Real Madrid match.

Alvaro Arbeloa has admitted he has no say over Real Madrid’s contract talks with Vinicius Jr, as links to the Saudi Pro League surface once again around the Brazil star.

The former Madrid and Spain defender, now working within the club’s academy, was asked about Vinicius’ future and the growing noise around a possible move to Saudi Arabia. Arbeloa made it clear the situation is out of his hands, stressing that only the club and the player can decide what happens next.

He also underlined how highly Vinicius is valued at the Bernabeu, pointing to his importance in the current squad and the level he has reached since arriving in Madrid.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have renewed talks over a new deal for the winger. Vinicius remains under contract, but the club are keen to secure his long-term future and avoid any distractions as the season develops.

The Saudi Pro League remains an ongoing talking point after repeated reports of interest in Vinicius, and those rumours have returned again as discussions over his contract continue.

Arbeloa’s message was blunt: he can only watch from the side. The former full-back said he is “powerless” in negotiations of that scale, with the final decision belonging to Madrid’s executives and the player himself.
