Arsenal have confirmed that Ethan Nwaneri has completed a loan move to Marseille, with the teenage midfielder leaving the Emirates Stadium temporarily in search of regular first-team football.

The Gunners announced the deal on their official channels, confirming the switch and wishing the academy graduate well for the season ahead. Nwaneri remains an Arsenal player and will return to north London when the loan spell ends.

The move sees Nwaneri take the next step in his development after breaking into the spotlight as one of Arsenal’s brightest young talents. Still only a teenager, he has been on the club’s radar for years and has already made history in an Arsenal shirt.

Marseille, one of France’s biggest clubs, will now provide the England youth international with a fresh challenge in Ligue 1, where he will look to build experience in a more demanding weekly environment.

Arsenal view the loan as part of Nwaneri’s long-term pathway, giving him the chance to play senior football while continuing to grow away from the pressure of fighting for minutes in a crowded squad in north London.

Nwaneri will link up with his new team immediately, with Marseille set to welcome the highly-rated youngster as they prepare for the new campaign.
