Barcelona has taken a significant step ahead of their eternal rivals, Real Madrid, in the race to sign one of Brazil’s most promising young talents.
The Catalan club has reportedly reached a full verbal agreement with the entourage of Palmeiras’ rising star, Estevão Willian, widely known as ‘Messinho’. The 17-year-old winger is considered one of the brightest prospects in South American football.
According to information confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has been personally and directly involved in the negotiations. The deal is said to be structured with a fixed transfer fee plus substantial add-ons linked to the player’s future performance.
While personal terms are settled, the final obstacle remains an agreement between Barcelona and Palmeiras. The Brazilian club is holding out for the full payment of his €60 million release clause. Barcelona’s current financial situation means they cannot activate the clause immediately and must negotiate a different payment structure.
Despite this hurdle, Barcelona’s advance is clear. Real Madrid, who have also been monitoring the player for years, now find themselves playing catch-up. The Blaugrana’s early and decisive move has given them a crucial advantage in this high-stakes transfer battle for a player many believe is destined for the top.
