Chelsea set for Mike Maignan blow as keeper may snub move

Chelsea look set to miss out on Mike Maignan, with the AC Milan goalkeeper understood to be leaning towards staying in Italy rather than making a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been linked with Maignan as they continue to assess their goalkeeping options, but Milan are keen to keep their No.1 and there is growing expectation that the France international will not push for a transfer.

Maignan remains a key figure at San Siro and, despite the interest from the Premier League, he is reportedly on course to snub Chelsea in favour of continuing his career with the Serie A side.

Chelsea’s search has brought Maignan into focus because of his experience and standing at club and international level, yet Milan’s position and the player’s current preference mean any deal is now looking unlikely.

With that, Chelsea could be forced to look elsewhere as they plan for the new season, while Milan are increasingly confident they will retain one of their most important players.
