Conor Gallagher has completed a €40 million move to Tottenham, joining the club from Atletico Madrid and returning to the Premier League after just one season in Spain.
The former Chelsea midfielder has signed for Spurs in a deal that makes him the latest player to switch between London rivals, with Tottenham moving quickly to strengthen their midfield options.
Gallagher left Chelsea last summer and headed to Atletico, but his time in La Liga has proved short. Now, he is back in English football and set for a fresh start under Tottenham’s plans for the new campaign.
The transfer has been confirmed as a €40m agreement between Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, with Gallagher completing the move to north London to become Spurs’ newest addition.
Gallagher came through at Chelsea and built his name during loan spells before becoming a regular at Stamford Bridge. Despite that, he was allowed to leave and has now ended up with one of Chelsea’s biggest domestic rivals.
Tottenham will hope his energy, pressing and running power can add bite in the middle of the pitch, while Gallagher gets the chance to re-establish himself in the Premier League after his spell abroad.
The deal also underlines Tottenham’s intent in the market as they look to add proven top-flight quality, with Gallagher’s €40m switch now officially done.
