Egypt and Nigeria have both rejected a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the medals awarded in the third-place match at the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to the details revealed, the two teams refused to accept CAF’s move regarding the bronze medals, after Egypt beat Nigeria in the playoff for third place.
The issue has created a fresh crisis around the medals distribution, with both delegations objecting to the decision taken by CAF and insisting on their position.
CAF’s ruling has sparked strong reactions because it directly affects the awards linked to the match, turning a post-tournament matter into a new dispute between the sides involved and the organising body.
