Florentino Perez’s “ultimate goal is to bring Jose Mourinho back” to Real Madrid, according to claims made about the club president’s long-term thinking.
The report says Perez remains a huge admirer of Mourinho, who coached Madrid from 2010 to 2013 and won the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mourinho’s spell in Spain was one of the most intense of the modern era, with Madrid breaking Barcelona’s dominance in the league and setting a then-record points total in 2011-12. But it also ended in conflict and division inside the dressing room, with relationships strained across the squad.
One of the most striking details revealed is that former Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa was branded a “snitch” and a figure who “doesn’t inspire anyone” during that period, reflecting the atmosphere around the team in Mourinho’s final season.
The same account insists Perez has never fully let go of the idea of bringing the Portuguese back, describing it as the president’s “ultimate goal”, despite the years that have passed and the different eras the club has gone through since Mourinho left.
Mourinho is currently in charge of Fenerbahce, while Madrid continue with their own plans on the pitch. But the claims underline how highly Perez is said to rate Mourinho’s personality and methods, and how the president is believed to see him as a coach capable of leading the club again in the future.
