Vincent Kompany has moved to clarify Bayern Munich’s position on Michael Olise, following reports linking the winger with a potential move to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has been in impressive form for the Bundesliga side this season, and speculation has grown that Liverpool are monitoring him as a long-term successor to Salah, whose contract at Anfield runs until 2025.
Speaking ahead of Bayern’s next fixture, Kompany was asked directly about the club’s stance on selling Olise. The Belgian manager made it clear that the player is not for sale, and that Bayern have no intention of parting with him in the upcoming transfer windows.
“Michael is an important part of our squad,” Kompany said. “There is no discussion about selling him. We are planning with him for the future, and that is the only message I have for anyone asking.”
Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for a fee reported to be around €60 million. Since then, he has become a regular starter under Kompany, contributing goals and assists from the right flank.
The link to Liverpool emerged after several media outlets suggested the Premier League club see Olise as a natural fit for their attack, especially if Salah departs at the end of the 2025–26 season. However, Kompany’s comments appear to shut down any immediate hopes of a deal.
“I understand that big clubs are always linked with our players,” Kompany added. “But we are building something here. Michael knows what we expect from him, and he is happy. That is what matters.”
Bayern are currently competing for the Bundesliga title and are also active in the Champions League. Olise has started in all but two of their league matches this campaign, underlining his importance to the side.
With the January transfer window now closed, any potential move for Olise would have to wait until the summer. But based on Kompany’s latest remarks, Bayern are not planning to entertain offers.
