Lisandro Martinez has responded to jokes made about his height by Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, inviting the pair to “come to my house” for a face-to-face chat after the Red Devils’ derby win.

Martinez was the subject of a light-hearted discussion involving Scholes and Butt before United beat Manchester City, with the former midfielders poking fun at the defender’s stature as debate around his suitability for the Premier League continued.

After the victory, Martinez hit back at the comments and made it clear he had no issue saying what he thought directly. “Come to my house,” he said, challenging Scholes and Butt to sit down with him and discuss it properly.

The Argentina international has faced scrutiny since arriving at Old Trafford, but he has quickly become a key part of Erik ten Hag’s side and played his part as United came out on top in the derby.

Martinez’s message was simple: he is not interested in being judged on appearances, and he believes the best way to settle any talk is with honest conversation — in person.
