Michael Carrick explained why Mason Mount was left out of Manchester United’s squad for their thrilling win over Fulham.
United edged the contest in dramatic fashion, but Mount was a notable absentee for Erik ten Hag, with the midfielder not included in the matchday group.
Carrick revealed the reason behind the decision during his pundit work, explaining that Mount was not involved because of injury. The former United midfielder said Mount had a “niggle” and was therefore left out as a precaution.
The update offered clarity after Mount’s absence raised questions ahead of kick-off, especially with United still managing to come through a tight game and take the points.
Mount’s availability will now be monitored, with United hoping the issue is not serious and that he can return soon as the season continues.
