Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are preparing for what could be a pivotal summer, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still not fully settled and major spending plans lined up either way.

Ronaldo, 39, is under contract in Riyadh until the end of June, and talks over an extension have been ongoing for weeks. While Al Nassr remain confident they can convince the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to stay, the situation has opened the door to fresh speculation across Europe and beyond.

Several teams are monitoring developments, aware that Ronaldo would be free to negotiate a different move if no agreement is reached. Those close to the player have suggested he wants stability and a clear sporting project, especially with the next season building toward another major international summer. Al Nassr, for their part, are said to be ready to offer improved terms and a stronger squad to match their ambitions domestically and in Asia.

One player on their shortlist is Arsenal midfielder Martin Ødegaard, a move that would represent a major statement of intent. Al Nassr are believed to be considering a package worth around €100 million to tempt the Premier League club into talks. Arsenal regard Ødegaard as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s team, and there is no indication they want to sell, but the scale of any offer could test their resolve.

Arsenal are also expected to be active themselves as they look to add firepower ahead of another title challenge. Among the forwards being tracked is Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez, who continues to attract interest due to questions over his role at the Etihad Stadium.

Álvarez has delivered consistently when called upon, but competition for places in City’s attack remains fierce. Arsenal are understood to view the Argentina international as a strong fit for their system thanks to his movement, work rate and ability to play across the front line. Any deal would be complex, however, given City’s stance on selling to a domestic rival and the likely price tag attached.

With Ronaldo’s decision looming and Al Nassr weighing up another high-profile push in the market, the coming weeks are shaping up to be decisive both in Saudi Arabia and in north London.
