Roy Keane criticises Man Utd coaching staff under Carrick

Coaches from various teams: one in an England training kit, another applauding in a black coat, and the last in a Manchester United jacket.

Roy Keane has questioned Manchester United’s coaching setup under interim boss Michael Carrick after the club brought in Jonny Evans and Jonathan Woodgate to help lead the team.

United confirmed the appointments as Carrick took charge following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure, with the former midfielder given responsibility for the side while the club works on a longer-term solution.

Speaking about the changes, Keane was unconvinced by the new additions and aimed a pointed remark at Evans’ recent situation. “He was on the beach a week ago!” Keane said, as he criticised what he sees as a lack of strong leadership and experience around the first-team group.

The former United captain argued that the club’s problems run deeper than a quick reshuffle on the training ground, suggesting the new staff are being asked to steady a situation that has been drifting for some time.

Carrick is expected to oversee preparations and matches in the short term, with Evans and Woodgate joining the backroom team as United look to restore stability during a turbulent period.

Keane’s comments added to the growing scrutiny on United’s direction and decision-making, with attention now on how Carrick’s staff will perform while the club continues its search for a permanent manager.
