Senegal Football Federation president Augustin Senghor has sparked fresh controversy after claiming the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is “under Morocco’s control,” in comments that have quickly spread across the African football scene.
Senghor’s remarks came while speaking about what he sees as repeated issues inside CAF, as he pointed to decisions and directions he believes have leaned toward Moroccan influence in recent years.
The Senegalese official did not stop there, raising broad accusations about how the continental body is run, and suggesting that the balance of power inside CAF is no longer fair for all member associations.
His words have reignited debate over governance at CAF, with the Senegal FA chief insisting that the situation has affected football across the continent and needs to be addressed.
No official response from CAF or the Moroccan federation was included alongside the comments, but Senghor’s statements have added new fuel to an already sensitive discussion around leadership and influence in African football.
