Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song said Morocco are “not recognized,” while Algeria are a “real rival” for the title, as he looked ahead to the next stage of the competition.

Song’s comments came as he assessed the leading contenders and the balance of power among the sides still in the race. He pointed to Algeria as one of the strongest teams and a direct competitor for the championship.

Speaking about Morocco, Song said the Atlas Lions are “not recognized,” in a remark that drew attention given Morocco’s growing reputation in recent tournaments.

He added that Algeria, in his view, remain a genuine threat and a serious challenger for the trophy, stressing that their quality and experience make them difficult to beat.

Song’s statements underline the competitive landscape among the tournament’s heavyweight nations, with several sides expected to push deep into the knockout rounds.
