Tottenham injury crisis deepens as Richarlison limps off

Richarlison of Tottenham lies on the pitch, visibly injured, gripping his abdomen during a match, with green turf surrounding him.

Tottenham’s injury crisis worsened again on Sunday as Richarlison was forced off during their FA Cup tie against Aston Villa with a suspected hamstring problem.

The Brazil forward started the fourth-round match but pulled up in discomfort and was unable to continue, leaving Ange Postecoglou facing yet another fitness issue at a difficult time of the season.

Richarlison, who has already dealt with injury setbacks this campaign, went down during the contest and signalled immediately that something was wrong. Tottenham’s medical staff quickly came on, but it soon became clear he could not carry on.

He was eventually replaced, with Spurs losing another attacking option during a game that carried significant pressure for a squad already stretched thin.

Tottenham have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, with Postecoglou regularly forced into changes and makeshift solutions. Richarlison’s issue adds to the list of unavailable players and underlines the scale of the challenge for Spurs as they balance domestic and league commitments.

The club are expected to assess Richarlison’s condition in the coming days to confirm the extent of the problem, but his early exit from the Aston Villa match is the latest setback in a season that has repeatedly tested Tottenham’s depth.
