Vinicius Jr believes Real Madrid’s Spanish Super Cup triumph can be the moment that reshapes their season, with the Brazilian insisting the trophy has given the squad a major lift ahead of a final showdown against Barcelona.
Madrid booked their place in the final after beating Atletico Madrid 5-3 in a dramatic semi-final that went to extra time in Saudi Arabia. It was a wild contest that swung back and forth, with Real taking the lead early before Atletico hit back, only for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to keep finding a way into the game.
Vinicius played his part in the comeback, and afterwards he made it clear the squad see the win as more than just another result. “I think this victory can change our season,” he said, pointing to the confidence the side drew from battling through such a demanding night.
The 23-year-old also underlined what the next match means, with Madrid now set for a Super Cup final against Barcelona. Vinicius stressed the group are focused on finishing the job and turning the momentum from the Atletico victory into another title.
Real Madrid and Barcelona will meet in the Spanish Super Cup final in Riyadh, with Vinicius determined to carry the message of that semi-final into the decisive game and prove it really was the turning point he believes it can be.
