Cristiano Ronaldo to Miss Al Nassr vs Al Wasl Clash

Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent from the pitch when Al Nassr faces Al Wasl in a crucial Saudi Pro League match on Friday, May 17, 2024. The Portuguese superstar is suspended after receiving a red card in his team’s previous game.

The incident occurred during Al Nassr’s semi-final second leg in the Saudi King’s Cup against Al Hilal on May 6, 2024. Ronaldo was shown a straight red card in the 86th minute for violent conduct. The dismissal came just moments after Al Nassr had conceded a second goal, ultimately losing the match 2-1 and the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

As a result of the sending-off, the Saudi Football Federation’s disciplinary committee imposed a two-match suspension on Ronaldo. He served the first game of that ban in Al Nassr’s 3-2 league victory over Al Akhdoud on May 13. The match against Al Wasl will be the second and final game of his suspension.

This means Al Nassr’s captain will be unavailable for a key fixture as his team continues its pursuit of the league title. His absence is a significant blow for Al Nassr, who rely heavily on his goal-scoring prowess and leadership. The club currently sits in second place, trailing leaders Al Hilal by nine points with just four matches remaining in the season.

Ronaldo’s suspension rules him out of any involvement against Al Wasl, and he will return to action for Al Nassr’s following match against Al Ittihad on May 27, 2024.
