Tunisia coach confirms clear stance on resignation amid deeper issues

Tunisian coach seated at a press conference with a serious expression, surrounded by branding elements for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Tunisia head coach Faouzi Benzarti said he has no intention of stepping down, insisting his position is clear despite the difficult atmosphere surrounding the national team.

Speaking after Tunisia’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Benzarti addressed the growing talk about his future, stressing that resigning is not on his agenda.

I have a clear stance,” Benzarti said, adding that the situation is “deeper than (Nabil) Trabelsi,” in reference to former Tunisia coach Nabil Trabelsi.

The coach explained that the national team’s problems cannot be reduced to a single name or a coaching change, pointing instead to broader issues that need to be handled at a higher level.

Benzarti also made it clear that he will continue his work with the squad, underlining that he is focused on what comes next rather than the noise around him.

He concluded by emphasizing that solutions must go beyond the bench, repeating that the challenge facing Tunisia is bigger than one coach and requires a wider approach.
