Malawi coach Kalisto Pasuwa said his team carried out its plan against Tunisia, insisting the players “successfully lured” their opponents at key moments and deserved the result.
Speaking after the match, Pasuwa explained that Malawi were disciplined and patient, waiting for the right time to hit Tunisia with quick attacks. He stressed that his side did not give Tunisia the spaces they wanted, and that the team stayed focused throughout the contest.
“We succeeded in luring Tunisia,” Pasuwa said, pointing to how Malawi managed the game and forced Tunisia into mistakes. He added that his players showed strong character and followed the instructions on the pitch.
The coach underlined that Malawi’s ambition goes beyond this step, making it clear the team are not satisfied with what they have achieved so far.
Looking ahead, Pasuwa sent a firm message about the next challenge, saying Malawi will approach Senegal with the same confidence and hunger. “Our ambition will not stop in front of Senegal,” he said.
Pasuwa also praised the commitment of his squad, noting that the group believes in its chances and will keep working to improve as the tournament continues.
