The Egyptian Football Association moved quickly to issue an official apology after the widely criticised “Agadir video” sparked anger among Moroccan fans.

In its statement, the federation confirmed that what appeared in the clip was not meant to offend Morocco, stressing the strong ties between the two countries and the respect Egypt has for the Moroccan people.

The apology came as a response to the backlash that followed the انتشار of the video, which many described as provocative and inappropriate, especially with the Egyptian national team’s presence in Agadir.

Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan also addressed the situation, insisting that he holds Morocco in high regard. “I have all the respect for Moroccans,” Hassan said, making it clear that there was no intention to cause any offence.

The incident prompted a wave of reactions on social media, with calls for an explanation and a clear stance from Egyptian football officials.

By releasing an official apology and reaffirming its position, the Egyptian Football Association sought to contain the controversy and underline that relations and mutual appreciation between the two football communities remain unchanged.
