Glasner Hints at Marc Guehi Transfer: “We’ll See”

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has offered the clearest indication yet that Marc Guéhi’s future could be decided before the transfer window closes, refusing to give any firm guarantees over the defender’s stay at Selhurst Park.

Guéhi has been linked with a move for much of the past year, with several Premier League clubs tracking the England international after his strong performances for Palace and country. With interest expected to intensify, Glasner was asked directly about the centre-back’s situation and whether he expects him to remain with the squad.

Rather than shutting down the speculation, Glasner left the door open. “We’ll see,” the Palace boss said, a short reply that nonetheless underlined the uncertainty surrounding one of the club’s most valuable assets.

Palace have consistently maintained they are in a strong position and have no need to sell, but the reality is that a significant offer would test that stance. Guéhi, still in his early 20s and already a leader at the back, is viewed across the league as a ready-made starter for teams with Champions League ambitions.

For Palace, the timing matters. Losing a key defender late in the window would force the club into the market for a replacement at short notice, often the most expensive and difficult period to do business. The club have been active in planning for different scenarios, but Guéhi’s profile makes him hard to replace like-for-like.

Glasner has spoken in recent weeks about building a stable group and keeping the spine of the team intact, especially as he looks to put his stamp on the squad over a full season. Guéhi fits that plan, both because of his quality and because of the influence he has in the dressing room.

However, the manager’s latest comments suggest Palace are at least preparing for the possibility of movement. The situation is being watched closely, with a decision likely to depend on whether a club meets Palace’s valuation and whether Guéhi is open to a new step in his career.

Until then, Palace’s stance appears unchanged: they would prefer to keep him, but the final weeks of the window could bring the kind of offer that changes everything.
