Former Egypt international Haytham Farouk said the atmosphere in the stands during Egypt’s match against Senegal felt as if the game was being played in Dakar, because of the loud backing for Senegal.
Speaking in a video clip, Farouk pointed out that Senegal received strong support from the crowd throughout the game, which, in his view, gave the match the feel of a home fixture for the West African side despite the venue.
Farouk’s comments came as he discussed the impact of the fans on the contest, stressing that the stadium’s mood clearly leaned toward Senegal in their meeting with Egypt.
