Prestiani breaks silence with sharp attack on Vinicius and Mbappe

After being handed a six-match suspension, Prestiani has broken his silence and launched a sharp attack on Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

The coach, who was sanctioned by the disciplinary committee earlier this month, had remained quiet since the decision was announced on March 15, 2026. Now, in his first public statement, he has made his feelings clear about the two Real Madrid stars.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Prestiani did not hold back. He accused Vinicius of provoking his players during the heated encounter on March 10, 2026, which led to his touchline ban. “Vinicius knows exactly what he does on the pitch. He provokes, he taunts, and then he plays the victim. That is not football,” Prestiani said.

The suspension stems from an incident in the 67th minute of that match. Prestiani was sent off after a confrontation with the fourth official, following a challenge by Vinicius on one of his defenders. The Brazilian forward escaped a booking, which infuriated the coach.

Prestiani also turned his attention to Mbappe. “Mbappe is a great player, no doubt. But the way he behaves when things do not go his way is unacceptable. He pushed one of my players in the face and nothing happened. The referees protect them,” he added.

The six-match ban means Prestiani will miss the remainder of the regular season. His team currently sits fifth in the league table, fighting for a spot in next year’s Champions League. The club has confirmed it will not appeal the decision.

Real Madrid have declined to comment on Prestiani’s remarks. However, sources close to the club suggest they consider the matter closed. Vinicius and Mbappe have not responded publicly.

Prestiani ended his statement by insisting he stands by his actions. “I will always defend my team. If that costs me a ban, so be it. But I will not stay silent when I see injustice,” he said.
