Mohamed Salah’s return date to Liverpool is set to be confirmed after Egypt’s heartbreaking exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Liverpool forward had travelled to AFCON with Egypt but saw his tournament cut short after picking up a hamstring injury during the group stage. Salah returned to Merseyside for assessment and treatment, with Liverpool confirming at the time that he would undergo rehabilitation at the club.

Egypt, meanwhile, continued their run without their captain, battling through the knockout rounds before being eliminated on penalties by DR Congo in the last 16. The match finished 1-1 after extra time, with DR Congo winning 8-7 in the shootout.

Following Egypt’s exit, attention has now turned back to Salah’s recovery and when he will be available again for Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool are expected to confirm Salah’s return date once his rehabilitation schedule and progress are finalised.

Salah has been one of Liverpool’s standout players this season, and the club will be keen to have him back as soon as he is fully fit. For now, his comeback timeline remains dependent on his recovery from the hamstring problem that forced him out of Egypt’s AFCON campaign.
