Crystal Palace decide Oliver Glasner future after outburst

Crystal Palace have decided to keep Oliver Glasner in charge despite reports of a furious outburst in which the manager claimed he had been “abandoned”.

Glasner’s future had been questioned after the FA Cup-winning coach was said to have clashed with the club’s hierarchy, with the Austrian unhappy over what he felt was a lack of support behind the scenes.

What has been revealed is that Palace’s board have held internal talks and chosen not to make a change. The club are sticking with Glasner, backing him to continue after delivering the FA Cup.

The report said Glasner had vented his frustration during the summer, feeling key decisions were being taken without his full input and that he had been left exposed. But Palace have now moved to draw a line under the episode.

Glasner only arrived at Selhurst Park in February and quickly made an impact, guiding Palace to major silverware and strengthening his standing with the supporters.

Palace’s decision means the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will remain in place heading into the new season, with the club expecting the focus to return to football after a tense period off the pitch.
