Birmingham City are set to win the race to sign a Premier League winger, beating Wrexham to the deal as Tom Brady’s influence helps the Blues move ahead of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The Championship club have moved into pole position in the chase for the wide man, with Birmingham now expected to land the player despite Wrexham’s interest. The Wales-based side, backed by Reynolds and McElhenney, have been tracking the situation but look set to miss out as Birmingham push the transfer towards the finish line.

Brady, who is a minority owner at Birmingham, has helped the club gain momentum as they continue to reshape their squad. Birmingham’s ambition and financial backing have been clear in the market, and they are now closing in on a deal that would represent another statement signing ahead of the new season.

Wrexham, fresh from their rise through the divisions, had been linked with making another eye-catching move as they aim to keep building. However, Birmingham’s approach has put them in control of the negotiations and the Premier League winger is now expected to choose St Andrew’s over the Racecourse Ground.

The move is not yet officially completed, but Birmingham are confident of getting it done, leaving Wrexham to look elsewhere as they continue their own recruitment plans.
