Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has confirmed another member of his squad has been hit by illness as a “bad” virus continues to move through the camp ahead of the Blues’ Champions League meeting with Pafos.

Rosenior revealed the latest victim is Nicolas Jackson, with the striker now a doubt as preparations continue for the European test. The Chelsea boss admitted the situation has disrupted training in the build-up, with multiple players affected in recent days.

Speaking before the game, Rosenior said the virus has been “bad” and stressed the club are trying to manage the issue as best they can. He also made clear that the staff are monitoring the squad closely as they wait to see who will recover in time to be involved.

Chelsea are due to take on Pafos in the Champions League, and Rosenior acknowledged the timing is far from ideal as his side look to balance fitness, recovery and match readiness. With Jackson now added to the list of absentees, Chelsea’s options could be stretched if further players fail to shake off the illness before kick-off.
