James McClean could not resist a final cheeky moment at the Racecourse Ground, flipping his middle finger towards Leicester City supporters as he made his way off the pitch.

The incident came during Wrexham’s farewell at home ahead of McClean’s move to Derry City, a transfer that has now been confirmed.

McClean, a popular figure with the Welsh club and their fans, was captured on video turning towards the away end and raising his middle finger in a moment that quickly spread online.

The gesture appeared to be directed at Leicester fans as the winger walked away from the corner of the ground, with McClean smiling as he did it.

Wrexham have already said their goodbyes to the 35-year-old, who is returning to Ireland to join Derry City, bringing an end to his spell at the Racecourse Ground.

McClean’s time in north Wales has made him a favourite with supporters, and he leaves with his reputation for playing with edge and personality firmly intact — even if his last act in front of Leicester’s travelling fans was a provocative one.
